Includes controlling bleeding and bandaging, using a tourniquet, shock, internal bleeding, burns and electrical injuries, allergic reactions, use of an epinephrine pen, choking, diabetes, low blood sugar, broken bones and sprains, and more injury emergencies. The environmental emergencies module covers heat and cold related emergencies, bites and stings, and more.
This course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 U.S. states. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers child/infant CPR, child/infant AED, child/infant choking, and pediatric first aid. Adult modules in CPR, AED and choking are optional.
Wilderness environments create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. This ASHI course includes preparation and assessment, preventing and caring for injuries, environmental hazards, biological hazards, and medical emergencies.
BASIC WILDERNESS FIRST AID is an 8-10 hour course for those who are involved in wilderness recreation. This course may also meet the needs of volunteers and professionals who lead groups on short trips in relatively low-risk situations.
WILDERNESS FIRST AID is an intensive 16-20 hour course for those who are involved in serious wilderness activities. This course is the choice of many wilderness trip leaders and guides.
